Colour and size
As with a veil, match the shade of your dress: white with white, ivory with ivory. For a bolero, take your usual top size, or the size that fits your arms comfortably if you are between two. Capes and shawls are usually one size.
Questions brides ask
What is the difference between a bolero and a shrug?
Very little. A shrug is a shorter bolero that covers only the shoulders and arms, often with no front at all. Both are worn open over the dress.
Can I wear a cape and a veil together?
Yes, if one leads. A long cape with a short veil, or a cathedral veil with a light shawl, looks balanced. Two long, detailed layers compete.
Do I need to cover my shoulders in a church?
It depends on the church and the country. Many Catholic and Orthodox churches still expect covered shoulders during the ceremony. Ask your officiant, and if in doubt, bring a bolero you can remove afterwards.
Is a bridal cape warm?
